New Low-Cost Thermal Camera Acts
as Ideal Handheld Supplement

DEXTER, MI July 15, 2006 – This month, Ann Arbor Sensor Systems, LLC, a company specializing in non-contact temperature measurement, is set on raising a few eyebrows among thermography specialists, inspectors, maintenance personnel, and lab technicians. The AXT100 Thermal Imaging Camera, available now at less than $5000, is a fixed-mount thermal imaging camera that not only generates radiometric thermal video, but streams the data anywhere in the world.

The thermal imaging camera has a built-in Web server that handles Web streaming. While analog video out displays radiometric thermal video on a local monitor, those with login information may view the same signal over their browser from inside the corporate intranet or anywhere in the world. Additionally, raw data streams out a second TCP/IP port that can be analyzed through the standalone LabVIEW Interface, included with the product.

David Kryskowski, Director of the Michigan-based company, was enthused to identify the product’s impact on the predictive maintenance industry. “Thermographers inspect machinery in labs and plants,” Kryskowski explained. "The AXT100 will allow them to remotely inspect the target and follow up with reports for days, weeks, or even months after the repairs, with minimal investment.”

Kryskowski further noted the business advantages for thermographers. “The AXT100 opens up a door that gives thermographers the extra edge in the rat race,” Kryskowski said. “With the AXT100, they can add a ‘constant monitoring’ service for their clients, generating extra cashflow while also appearing more thorough and complete against rival firms.”

Kryskowski went on to note that the camera produces satisfactory images while breaking through towards a new price plateau. “We use large-format thermopile array technology- new to the industry,” Kryskowski said. “Very nice quality considering it's thermal data and imagery delivered over the Internet. [The pictures] look good enough to even include in client reports.” Kryskowski continued as he coined the phrase- “While your handheld can go anywhere you can, the AXT100 can be there when you can’t.”

The new product is available now through their website, or by calling Ann Arbor Sensor Systems corporate headquarters at (734) 426-1791.
